Design Trend: Green Kitchen Cabinets

All the green kitchens we’ve pinned this year — and their paint colors.

Are you craving color and contrast in your kitchen? Earlier this year we wrote about the blue kitchen cabinet trend and today we’re back with another trending cabinet color — green. We’ve been pinning green kitchens all year and we wanted to put our favorites — and their paint colors — in one place for you!

1. Emily Henderson’s Portland Project Kitchen in SW Pewter Green

Emily Henderson had us pining for green cabinets when she debuted her Portland Project kitchen, pictured above, last fall. The cabinets and island are painted Sherwin Williams Pewter Green, a dark gray-green, and complemented by marble counters and Sherwin Williams Oyster White walls.

2. Kelsey Leigh’s Kitchen in SW Pewter Green & Ripe Olive

Kelsey Leigh went with a custom blend of the same Pewter Green and the slightly darker Sherwin Williams Ripe Olive for her kitchen. Black counters and a marble backsplash create extra drama, and the green pairs well with white oak, another trending finish.

Chad Esslinger designed this kitchen with Benjamin Moore Rainy Afternoon cabinets and a geometric cement tile backsplash for the sink wall. While these cabinets appear lighter than those above, the paint colors actually have very similar LRVs.

5. Chris Loves Julia’s Kitchen in SW Thunderous

Favorite green kitchen cabinet colors

Green is a versatile color that works well whether your style is modern or traditional, cottage or glam. It can have a calming effect, as it brings the color of nature indoors, but it can also be moody or energizing, soft or bold. Remember that the light quality, photo editing, and monitor settings can all affect the way a color looks, so be sure to test large samples in your kitchen before committing to a color!
